Sherman Ferguson

Biography:

Sherman Ferguson started playing drums at an early age. He studied privately and performed on the East Coast before moving to Los Angeles in 1976. He has played on various TV shows including Days and Nights of Molly Dodd and has done TV commercials, most recently, AT&T. He has performed with Benny Carter, Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Eddie Harris and Pat Martino. Sherman performs regularly with Kenny Burrell. He has toured extensively throughout Europe, Japan, Brazil, and the U.S. He has taught at Long Beach Community College, California Institute of the Arts, Jackson State University in Mississippi, and is currently a faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and UCI. Currently he plays in his own band, Sherman Feguson’s JazzUnion, and has released the CD Welcome To My Vision… on his own label, Jazz-a-zance Records.
Sherman currently teaches Ensemble Workshops, and Jazz Drums.
